Senior Estimator


The Company

A main construction contractor with over 50 years' experience in the build industry specialising in both the public and private sectors. They have vast experience in delivering commercial, residential and industrial projects throughout South Yorkshire with values ranging from £100k to £5m.

The Project

As a highly experienced Senior Estimator / Surveyor you will be overseeing the tender process for multiple projects. You will play a crucial role within the estimating team and wider business to ensure that all works are continuously secured.

Requirements

It is also desired that you hold the skills & experience below;

* Minimum of 10 years' experience in an Estimating / Surveying role for a Main Contractor
* It is preferred but not mandatory to have experience of dealing with costs on live projects to include valuations, variations, final accounts, procurement etc.

* Project: Various Projects within the Health, Education, Commercial, Industrial, Ecclesiastical, Public Buildings, Social, Private and Luxury Housing sectors
* Reporting to: Directors

Duties

* Specification analysis & review
* Preparation and submission of tenders
* Adjudicating tenders within agreed limits
* Knowledge of the build process of the project
* Understand company policies and procedures
* Preparing bill of quantity / pricing documentation
* Reviewing enquiry returns / checking compliance
* Collection of pricing elements to form tender sum
* Identified commercial opportunities within projects
* Cost Planning and Analytical / 1st Principles Estimating
* Preparing tenders for adjudication / settlement meetings
* Commercial review of opportunities and tender documents
* Commercial and Financial analysis of Risk & Opportunity
* Preparing and sending out sub-contract and materials enquiries
* Contributing to the design process and scope gap analysis
* Winning contracts, minimising risk and maximising gross profit
* Propose and implement the preconstruction cost budget for projects
* To implement the requirements of national and framework agreements
* Measuring and taking off quantities from drawings - electronic and paper
* Developing and building relationships that support growth in the business unit
* Development of Supply Chain & Supplier relations to assist in optimising commercial position
* Responsible for compilation of preliminary workbooks and coordination of this with Operations leads
* Managing the preparation of more than one tender at any one time (depending on size and complexity)
* Production of Value Engineering proposals and costs and develop alternative strategies to feed into
