Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Modular / Retail Projects

Location: South West Leeds

We're working with a well-established contractor with a strong pipeline of work across modular and retail projects, looking to bring in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to properly learn the role within a supportive and experienced team.

The business has a solid reputation, a busy order book, and a hands on commercial department where everyone pulls together. They're keen to bring in someone who's motivated, reliable, and looking to develop long term rather than just move around.

The Role

You'll be supporting the commercial team across a range of projects, getting involved in all aspects of quantity surveying including:

* Supporting procurement activities, including benchmarking prices and reviewing supplier returns
* Assisting with scoping of works and breaking down subcontract packages
* Raising subcontract orders internally and issuing to the supply chain
* Reviewing subcontractor applications and invoices, and issuing payment notices
* Keeping commercial trackers and workbooks up to date, ensuring forecast cost to complete remains accurate
* Assisting with valuations of works completed and ongoing forecasting
* Identifying and flagging variations, issuing relevant instructions where required
* Preparing and submitting valuations and client invoices
* Monitoring project spend against budget and highlighting any variances
* Supporting the agreement of both upstream and downstream final accounts
* Checking drawings and measurements to validate subcontractor or client claims
* Collating and submitting information for client final accounts
* Reviewing contracts and letters of intent, highlighting any risks or issues
* Working closely with the team to control costs and maximise value across projects

This role will be office-based to begin with, giving you the chance to learn the business and systems properly, with flexibility and some hybrid working available longer term.

What We're Looking For

* 1-2 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role (or a strong placement year)
* Background in construction (main contractor or subcontractor both considered)
* Good attitude and willingness to learn
* Organised, reliable, and able to work as part of a team
* Based within a commutable distance to the office

Modular experience is a bonus, but not essential, a general construction background is just as relevant.

What's on Offer

* £32,000 - £37,500 depending on experience
* Strong training and development within a good commercial team
* Exposure to a variety of projects across modular and retail
* 25 days holiday + b
