Freelance Senior / Quantity Surveyor


The Company

Our client is a privately owned; leading healthcare technology company with over 20 years in the industry. They provide new modular medical spaces, mobile theatres and building service installation/ maintenance works to live clinical environments across the UK.



The Project

As an experienced Senior / Quantity Surveyor you will be based on a £8m new build healthcare extension in the North East.

Requirements

For this role it is essential that you carry the following experience as a minimum;

* Extensive background, 5 years minimum with a proven track record of success on projects with a Major Main Contractor or Subcontractor
* History of delivering commercial packages on new build / refurbishment projects with build values in excess of £5m+

It is also essential that you hold the skills below;

* Superb negotiation capabilities
* Excellent sales and presentation skills
* Ability to multitask and prioritise projects
* Strong communication and attention to details

The Role

* Job Title: Freelance Senior / Quantity Surveyor
* Project: £8m - Extension to a private hospital in the North East
* Location: Stockton on Tees
* Duration: 12 months minimum
* Reporting to: Commercial Director

Duties

* Analysis of tender allowances
* Preparing material reconciliations
* Preparing and submitting material delivery sheets
* Strong communication, sales and presentation skills
* Post-award cost management duties including CVRs and CTC forecasts
* Develop accurate and consistent bids with the help of relevant departments
* Preparation and administration of procurement advice, tenders and tender reviews
* Assisting the business in achieving the target gross margin on each allocated project
* Maintain sustainable and productive relationships with existing clients and subcontractors
* Ensure deadlines are actively managed and progress is reported to supervisors as required
* Minimise risk, cost and maximise value by cost checking and analysis of labour, plant and materials
* Measurement and valuation of works (on site and from drawings) for valuations, variations & final accounts
* Manage a range of commercial aspects including procurement, tendering, contract administration, variations and management of subcontract works packages through to final account
* Contract administration including change control, variations, payment applications, progress reporting and final accounts
* Assisting in preparation of financial reports by taking relevant site measurements and/or measuring from drawings as directed by line manager
* Conducting tender exercises and evaluations for the purpose of subcontractor appointments and data capture for benchmarking and future cost plans
